Rejuvenating Chemical Peels in Glendale, CA
Our gentle, but effective chemical peels repair aging skin, improve skin discoloration and can help with acne.
How Do Chemical Peels Work?
Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that use acids to exfoliate the skin. The acid removes damaged skin cells across the treatment area. This allows the skin to heal by forming new skin cells, with minimal scarring or color changes.
Chemical peels help minimize the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and address the effects of sun damage for an overall more youthful-looking appearance. Chemical peels can also help reduce redness, dark spots, and other forms of discoloration for a more even skin tone and complexion. Chemical peels even help balance the skin’s oil production, which can help the severity of acne.
Recovery Time
If you work in an office or indoor setting, you should require no time off from work after your peel.
For the first 24 hours or so after your chemical peel, you will notice that your skin may appear red. This is typical; however, moisturizer can be liberally applied in order to help soothe your skin. Usually, the shedding begins after those first 24 hours.
A few days after the chemical peel, your skin will begin to appear dry and flaky. It’s best to let this procedure occur naturally and not pick or peel the skin before it is ready to be shed. Peeling skin before it is ready to come off can be counter-productive. After three to four days, most of the peeling should be complete, but it may take anywhere from five to seven days before your fresh, new skin has developed.
Within seven to fourteen days, your skin should be completely healed. Chemical peels can be repeated every three to nine months, depending on your skin condition and goals.
Chemical Peel Treatment Process
We start with an initial consultation to make sure this treatment is right for you.
The chemical peel treatment typically takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 60 minutes, depending on the depth of the peel.
Before applying the chemical solution we first clean your skin and cover your eyes and hair. Then the solution is applied to your skin using a sponge like tool. The chemical peel solution contains an exfoliating acid, so you may feel a slight stinging sensation while the solution is on your skin.
After leaving the solution on your skin for a specific amount of time, we then neutralize and remove it. Afterwards, a cool compress is applied to your face to soothe the skin.
