How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal uses concentrated beams of light to selectively destroy hair follicles and stop future hair growth, allowing patients to no longer have to deal with tedious and time-consuming hair removal methods like shaving, waxing, and tweezing.

During a treatment session, bright flashes of light are emitted onto the unwanted hair. The light penetrates through the skin and selectively targets the melanin in the hair follicles. The pigment absorbs the light energy, destroying the hair.

Multiple sessions are required to target hair follicles during their growth stage. Although most patients see results after the first treatment (hairs grow back finer and weaker), at least 6 treatments are typically needed for permanent results. Additional touch-ups may be required over time. Results will become more noticeable and impressive with each additional treatment until all follicles are destroyed, successfully stopping continuous hair growth.

Recovery Time

There is no downtime with laser hair removal. You can go back to your daily routine immediately. Your skin may appear flushed or tender immediately after treatment, but this should disappear within a few hours. It’s important to keep the treated area away from direct sunlight for a few days, especially in the summer.

Treatment Process

We start with an initial consultation to make sure this treatment is right for you.

The treatment area needs to be shaved prior to treatment. Each laser hair removal session lasts 60 minutes or less, depending on the area being treated.

Multiple sessions are needed to achieve desired results. The amount of sessions depends on the area being treated, but a minimum of 6 sessions is often required to see noticeable lasting results.

Before each treatment I was given a thorough explanation of how the procedure works and treatment was specifically designed for my need. The nurse gives you honest feedback on what treatments you would need and don’t need. The staff is also very nice and makes you feel so comfortable. I would highly recommend this place.
